We R Makers Vinyl Print Press
This easy-to-use, at-home screen printing tool is perfect for creating matching T-shirts, various types of totes, wood projects, printing on canvas, a wide variety of craft projects and more – there are truly so many fun project opportunities with this tool. We’ve heard of many people creating family reunion t-shirts, matching swag for sports, and signage for events. Not only is it fun to create with, but it’s very practical too!
Today, we want to walk through how to use this tool to create matching T-shirts!
Traditionally, one would need to use a professional screen-printing machine which can be large, bulky, and expensive OR create vinyl T-shirts – which takes a lot of time and materials! With the Vinyl Print Press, you can create your own screens with vinyl on your electronic cutting machine. Which means it truly is customizable AND reusable! Each vinyl screen can be used many times in one sitting. Once you’re finished with it, you can wash and store it for future use!
First, as we mentioned above, create your vinyl screen. Next, place Silkscreen Frame securely onto Vinyl Print Press™ Platform using the provided pegs. The vinyl side of the frame should be facing downwards, with your design facing the way you would like it to print.
Place a scrap paper between fabric layers to prevent ink bleeding then open your Vinyl Print Press™ and place project on the base, lining it up with your design.
Close the Vinyl Print Press™, making sure the vinyl and silkscreen are laying flat against your project. Place a line of ink to the top of your silkscreen as shown.
Use the squeegee to spread ink over your design. Only spread ink in one direction. Going back & forth may cause your design to smudge. For the first pass you do not need to apply heavy pressure, just enough to spread the ink. Be careful not to spread ink over undesired areas.
Please note, that we recommend ink, particularly the Vinyl Print Press ink, as it creates the highest quality and most permanent prints.
With more pressure use the squeegee to wipe away excess ink. Two passes over each section of your design should be enough. Excessive passes may cause ink smearing and bleeding.
Open the Vinyl Print Press™ to reveal and remove your project. Set project in a safe place until ink is dry to the touch.
Tips & Tricks
Keep top frame of Vinyl Print Press™ Platform in an open, upright position between projects to prevent ink from spreading onto the base. Clean screen immediately after use with soap and cold water. Heat set ink by ironing (on a heat setting for the fabric type) with a heat shield or parchment paper between your design and the iron.
That’s it! By using this tool, you can create multiple duplicates of a project or print in no time.
