What is a smart cutting machine?

Cricut smart machines are powered by electricity and controlled by computer software using digital files such as SVG’s, you do not need metal dies anymore. This means you can resize or edit the images, which offers you infinitely more possibilities than with physical dies. The machine has a housed blade to cut hundreds of materials using an adhesive mat to hold your material in place during the cutting process. Some materials can be loaded directly into the machine without a mat.

What materials can you cut?

One of the most exciting things about owning a Cricut machine is the variety of materials you can cut. Vellum, Paper, Card, Vinyl, HTV, Sticker paper, Cardboard, Fabric, Chipboard, Acetate, Glitter card to name but a few. You will have so much fun exploring what you can create.

What else does a smart cutting machine do?

Print & Cut – Some smart cutting machines, such as the Cricut Maker 3, have the ability to print and then cut images that can then be used for journalling, scrapbooking, stickers, & label making.

Draw – Both the Cricut Maker 3 and Cricut Joy machine has a pen holder. Choose your image, select the option to draw. Then load your pen and watch it glide across the paper with ease creating toppers, tags, personalised labels, colouring pages and much more.

Stencils – Using stencil vinyl cut your images for home décor, logo’s, wall art etc.
